About Us
A Modern Home in the Heart of Vernon
Hedda Lersey has lived here for 27 years and was instrumental in designing the original house. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Hedda came to Canada from Europe with her family in the mid 1960’s. She has been a local educator since the late 80’s, teaching high school chemistry and lecturing sciences for UBC in Kamloops, as part of the Native Indian Teacher Education Program. She is a First Nations advocate and believes in ‘truth and reconciliation’, as no child shall be forgotten. The name ELSKEN is derived from the combination of her paternal grandparents’ first names, Elsepeth and Kenneth. Elsken is also a Danish word, meaning ‘loved one’.
